User comment (2007) "I am very glad to hear that you will prepare the 2nd edition of yourtextbook in the near future and I am proud to be one of the instructorsin a foreign university who teaches your valuable textbook. However, during the past 20 years of my teaching career it is the firsttextbook that I ever seen to deal with thermodynamic concepts in such a simple and different manner which try to encourage the students to be willing to learn the thermal concepts. The subjects that you covered in your textbook make my students to try to discuss the thermodynamics concepts and their  applications to industrial processes. This is something that I have never faced with during the past 20 years of my teaching responsibility."

A compelling argument can be made that we are in the last days of using hardcopy, bound textbooks as the primary outside resource for engineering and engineering technology classes.  Like dinosaurs, textbooks have become so large and cumbersome that, even if a student didn’t mind carrying a few of them, their cost has become prohibitive.  Furthermore, there is technology currently available that makes text material light, agile, and inexpensive; electronic media.  This includes internet distributed books (eBooks) or books on CD-ROM.   Electronic methods support much more than text;  audio, video, and animation. Textbooks will be morphed into a different entity than they traditionally have been. They will include reading material, listening material, watching material, field trips, and even laboratory activities.  The role of the course instructor in the new metamorphosis, remains the same; to manage the course, to lecture in their unique manner, and to provide necessary student feedback.
